United States had a powerful USS Arizona battle ship used in the WWII time period. The battle ship was in service as early as 1914 and saw action alongside British friendlies in World War 1. The battleship was one of the most powerful of its type when launched in 1915.
Due to Germany rearming in the 1930's Britain began to increase ships in her steel fortress. HMS Belfast was a town class cruised commissioned before the start of WWII. The town class ships were constructed less than 10,000 tons due to the guidelines of the Washington Naval Treaty which limited the size and number built after WWI.
Germany's KMS Admiral Scheer was the second of the three Deutschland class heavy cruisers ordered and funded by the Reichsmarine of the Weimar Republic in 1926. This class of ships were often referred to as a "pocket battleship"; this meant that they were vessels smaller than a conventional battleship through bigger than any ocean-going cruiser at the time.
Japan's IJN Asahi was a pre-dreadnought battleship battle ship vessel in service with the Imperial Japanese Navy. She saw extensive combat in the war against Russia where it incurred some damage from a mine but survived through the conflict and interwar years and into World War II.
