Therese Bonney was a photographer of World War II. She took her photos on the back streets of Europe of homeless families. She believed in capturing the truth of the war. "I go forth alone, try to get the truth and then bring it back and try to make others face it and do something about it." Toni Frissell
Toni Frissell first started her career as a high fashion photographer. However, when the war started she volunteered her photography the American Red Cross, Women's Army Corps, and the Eighth Army Air Force. She was moving from a soft news page to the hard hitting news page on the front covers. She produced pictures of African- Americans in the service, nurses, front- line soldiers, and orphaned children. She said, "I became so frustrated with fashions that I wanted to prove to myself that I could do a real reporting job."
