Art and propaganda played a major role in World War II, especially for the uprising dictators and leaders, leading up to the war. Dictators like Adolf Hitler, Josef Stalin, and Benito Mussolini used art and propaganda to help them rise as a dictator, getting more followers and supporters. What they did, was putting the people they didn’t like (Hitler didn’t like Jews), in such a bad light, and criticizing them so much, that eventually they got it into people’s heads that they weren’t good for society, and they needed to get rid of. One of the things Hitler did was he wrote “Mein Kampf”, a book where he publicly stated his distrust in the government, and who was the cause of the downfall of Germany. Hitler specifically accused the Jews for being a pest to society, and explained how they were ruining society with them taking up space, supplies, and how they weren’t allowed to have a say in any government official rulings and so on. By Hitler openly stating this and having many people have his back, eventually he managed to convince society that this was true. After having millions more supporters, it was a lot easier for Hitler to show this, using propaganda via radio, newspapers, public speeches, poster, and art. Hitler also had artists and painters give up their business, in order to promote the propaganda. Even though they didn’t really target the Jews, Stalin and Mussolini used the same method to promote propaganda, in order to rise as a leader and dictator
